My daughter will be eight years old in March, and she already says that Royal Caribbean cruises are more fun for her. However, she is still excited about Disney’s newer ships, which offer expanded kids’ clubs and more immersive experiences designed to appeal to a broader age range.

I have to say, when we traveled on the Disney Cruise with friends, one family had a balcony stateroom, another had an ocean view stateroom, and we stayed in an inside stateroom. I saw all of them and loved each one, even the inside cabin!
Although our room didn’t have a window or an ocean view, Disney cleverly includes interactive “virtual portholes” that display a fairy flying around and sometimes even live video of the front of the ship. It gave us a sense of what it’s like to be in the other cabins, and I was genuinely amazed by the experience.
While the cabins are well-designed and family-friendly, pricing is one of the biggest considerations. Disney cruises are generally more expensive than comparable itineraries on other cruise lines, even when those ships offer more adventurous attractions or onboard activities.

During our trip, my daughter enjoyed the pool, ping pong, and eating lots of ice cream, but there were moments when she struggled to find engaging activities on her own, and we often ended up entertaining her. One fun surprise that helped keep her entertained was spotting hidden rubber ducks on the ship, which turned into a little scavenger hunt.
